The Development of Self-Propelled Machines in Illinois for Construction of Concrete Slabs Without Forms

چکیده
There have been many important developments in road building equipment in recent years; possibly the greatest progress has been made with earth-moving equipment. The size and mobility of earthmoving equipment have been developed to such an extent that pro duction has been increased tremendously on the average road con struction project. This has had a definite effect on the cost of road work as grading prices are actually lower today than in the earlier days of road building. Asphalt paving equipment has changed considerably in recent years with larger hot-mix plants and the development of several efficient asphalt finishing machines that eliminate the need of hand finishing. Concrete paving equipment has also been developed to increase production and reduce the need of so much hand labor. Among some of the modern developments are the 34-E dual drum paver, concrete spreaders, surface vibrators, and the longitudinal float. These changes have made it possible to increase production and produce smoother riding surfaces. An entirely new and different type of concrete paver or finish ing machine was developed in Iowa in 1949 that incorporated the use of slip forms in lieu of staked-in-place steel forms. The machine

Experimental Strengthening of the Two-way Reinforced Concrete Slabs with High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cement Composites Prefabricated Sheets
Reinforced concrete structures need to be strengthened and retrofitted for various reasons, including errors during design and/or construction, so in most cases strengthening of structural elements is much more economical than rebuilding the structure. Using HPFRCC with tensile stiffening behavior has been developed to strengthen the concrete structures over the recent few years. In this paper,...
متن کاملA study on strength and durability of self-compacting concretes made of recycled aggregates
Given the development of construction industry and design and implementation of high rise buildings with complex sections and various geometrical forms, the use of self-compacting concretes has received the attention of construction engineers and provided great advantages. Due to the increasing air pollution in cities, governments encounter the important issue of repelling the pollutants in whi...
متن کاملEstimation of Punching Shear Capacity of Concrete Slabs Using Data Mining Techniques
Punching shear capacity is a key factor for governing the collapsed form of slabs. This fragile failure that occurs at the slab-column connection is called punching shear failure and has been of concern for the engineers. The most common practice in evaluating the punching strength of the concrete slabs is to use the empirical expressions available in different building design codes. The estima...
متن کاملDeveloping a Cost-Effective Approach for Enhancing the Rheological and Mechanical Behavior of High Strength Self-Compacting Concrete
Despite the numerous advantages of using concrete with high strength capacity, the brittle behavior of high strength concrete (HSC) and higher production cost has limited its use in the construction industry. This research aims to develop a cost-effective approach for production of high strength self-compacting concrete with desirable performance in either compressive or tensile loading conditi...
متن کاملRC Slabs Retrofitting Against Blast Loading by GFRP-PU and CFRP-PU
For reducing the structural damage against blast loading, fiber reinforced polymers sheet (CFRP, GFRP) can be used for retrofitting the RC slabs. In this study specimens of reinforced concrete slabs with or without retrofitting are modeled numerically. The results show that the using of high resistant, elastic material such as FRP sheets, are effective in reducing the deformation of the slabs, ...
